Default GW Sound Problem

Hi, I just picked up the game, and after leaving town and using a skill, the sound cuts out. Then if I log out, I get no sound at all from any Windows apps. After rebooting, Windows would not play sound, and, looking at device manager, my sound driver has been mysteriously uninstalled. I am running XP SP2 with DX9C.

I have an Asus SLI-Deluxe that normally uses RealTek AC97 drivers, and I tried out the newest A3.76 as well as older version A3.75 and A3.66 and none helped. Then I tried using nForce drivers 6.66 instead of RealTek's, and still the issue remains. I have also tried downloading the game vs. installing from the CD, and still no help. I have also tried disabling all hardware acceleration,

At this point, I'm lost at what else to do. Any help would be appreciated.

Default I have similar problems

Since the last two or three GW updates, I've noticed that my sound effects (I normally have the background music off), cuts out as well.

I have the Asus A7N8X Deluxe motherboard and use the in-build sound chip and have updated the Nforce2 drivers from Nvidia, which does not help.

Sound has not been an issue for me prior to the last few updates from Guild Wars.

My computer is not having heat-related issues and have been running well with GW up until now.

Sound in Windows works.

I have to exit GW, play music or something in Windows, then GW sound works again.

On board Nvidia Boards will have Nvidia Soundstorm... or a third party such as realtek ac97 (which is not that bad at all either).

Do either of you have any of the DirectSound packs installed are running pure just ingame music?

Consider upgrading to the most current verioson of Direct X if your not running Windows XP and Service Pack 2 installed (you will have the most current then). http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx

Consider upgrading the mother board chipset driver welsper.

May want to check to see if your running the most current verison of windows media player. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...a/default.aspx

Did you install the newer media player update / patch that just showing up in reguards to DRM and portable devices?
